Today’s Must See: John Picacio’s ‘A Song of Ice and Fire Calendar’ Preview and SDCC Schedule

NEDSTARKlowresGifted artist John Picacio has graciously uploaded previews of all twelve images from his eagerly anticipated A Song of Ice and Fire 2012 Calendar.

If you’re a reader of speculative fiction then you’re probably already familiar with Picacio’s work. The Texas-based artist has worked with many iconic figures of fantasy and science fiction, including Michael Moorcock, Harlan Ellison, Robert Silverberg.

Drop by Picacio’s site today to see his take on ASOIAF characters Jaime Lannister, Eddard Stark, John Snow and several others.

Picacio describes his work as a combination of digital and traditional pencil and paint techniques, and said that depicting the men and women of Westeros was a “work of love”.

The A Song of Ice and Fire calendar is on sale nationwide today, and if you’re lucky enough to be attending San Diego Comic Con this year, you can get your calendar signed by both John Picacio and George R.R. Martin at booth AA21 on Friday from three to five p.m. Calendars will be available at Picacio’s booth, #4600, all weekend, as well as Random House’s booth, #1515.

On a personal note, I’d also like to encourage attendees to come visit me and the rest of the Suvudu team as well at booths #1514/#1515. We always enjoy meeting our readers and you’re welcome to stop by and see us in action interviewing your favorite authors and covering all of the con madness.

Are their spoilers in these pictures? I’ve only read up to page 200 of Clash of Kings so far.
