That is my bad--you know, I saw people kept writing HEA in their tweets, and I won't lie: I had to look it up. Just didn't realize how important it was to a lot of readers.
So yes, that is another very-big difference between PR and UF. I wonder if it would be accurate to say that PR follows a more classical, traditional story-telling, while UF tends to want to be a bit more modern (or Post-Modern, as it were), where "hero" is a more ambiguous term, and winning isn't always the most satisfying ending. (I'm not making a judgment if one or the other is a better mode of story-telling; it's just an observation).

I'm amazed that you didn't identify the most important requirement for paranormal romance - the happy ending. In paranormal romance, I know who the hero & heroine are, and I know they'll end up together. In urban fantasy there are no guarantees.
As a romance reader, the romance label is extremely important to me. I read outside of romance, but when I look for romance, I WANT to be limited to books with an HEA . If I buy romance without a happy ending, I will be livid. One of my greatest bookish fears is the encroachment of urban fantasy and its non-HEA ways into paranormal romance. (But I'll take u/f's stronger worldbuilding.) Other people's genre prejudices are not my problem.
